Pricing Structure Typical Drilling process (residential): One of our consultants will visit the property prior to the drilling process to determine the following factors:
Position of Borehole. The services of a water diviner expert or a geologist can be employed for this purpose. It should be noted that neither method gives 100% accuracy nor are there any guarantees that water will be found.
Access to the property. If a crane is required to lift the drilling rig into the garden, this will need to be ordered in advance. If a wall needs to be removed, we will advise the necessary requirements.
Date. A provisional date will be established. Uninterrupted access to the property is required during the drilling process. Once the drilling process commences, it must be continued without interruption
A drilling supervisor will arrive on site with laborers to dig two large holes (approximately 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 meters) - this is to accommodate the drilling mud that will be used during the process.
The drilling rig and the mud-pump will then be setup and positioned with all the necessary equipment.
The drilling process will commence & continue uninterrupted - this may continue into the evening.
When it is established that the water table has been attained, or when the contracted depth has been achieved, the drill will be extracted.
PVC casings will be inserted into the ground to a level where the ground is solid enough to support itself.
The Borehole will be capped to prevent foreign objects entering.
Pumps, water tanks and other piping will be installed (optional).
Costs: (Borehole only - see exclusions below): Setup / Breakdown Costs (establish rigs on site) - R 3,950.00 (Helderberg only, other areas are R 7,950,00) Travelling (from our offices in Somerset West) - R 40.00 per km Drilling (Air Percussion/Mud Rotary) - R 980.00 per meter PVC Casing (Class 9, 140mm slotted) - R 330.00 per meter Installation of Casing - R 80.00 per meter Pebble Backfill (suggested to improve borehole lifespan) - R 90.00 per meter Drilling additives and other consumables - R 750.00
Estimated cost for a 30m borehole ± R 40,500.00 Estimated cost for a 60m borehole± R 75,900.00 This would include: Setup costs, Travelling (round trip) 10km, Drilling, Class 9 PVC casing, backfilled with pebbles. Minimum Cost R 35,600.00 Once we have established the site and commenced drilling, the minimum cost is applicable.
Additional Costs (not included above): If sand or boulders are encountered, an Odex system may be required – an additional R 830.00 (sand or R950 (boulders) per meter including steel casing plus an additional cost of R 2,458.00 will be charged for the Odex Shoe (this is over and above the standard drilling price). Water Diviner Consultant (this is contracted out), Geologist (this is contracted out), Crane, Borehole pump, Water Tanks, Pressure pumps, Well head construction, Hydrogeologist analysis (if required to test the water quality for drinking – it is not recommended to drink borehole water). If drilling with the mud rotary drilling method, we will require non potable water, this will need to be delivered by truck.
Exclusions: Please note the above prices exclude site cleaning and the reestablishment of walls, grass and/or garden etc. Drilling is a noisy, messy and destructive process to the garden. The long-term benefits will hopefully compensate for this, but we do not clear the site after drilling. We do not integrate the borehole to irrigation or households, this service is outsourced. We can refer you to a company that specializes in this. Also note, if we are drilling within 5m of a building or house, we do not accept any liability for walls or foundations – there is always a small chance that the drilling process may disrupt the building.
Basic Conditions of Payment: Deposit of R29, 100.00 required on acceptance of quote and to secure a date (Please provide proof of payment) Balance due on completion. All the prices stated above exclude VAT.
Additional (non-drilling) Services: Our services are primarily associated with the drilling of a Borehole. We can however offer the services of the installation of a pump and reservoir tank to extract water from the ground. We do not integrate the stored water with your irrigation system. Such services can be best performed by an irrigation specialist and we are happy to refer a reliable team should you want this service.
